I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor here in Kentucky. My goal is to be an ally and source of support to help people along their journey. Sometimes that journey is easy, and sometimes things are messy, complicated, and challenging. We often learn ways of getting through life that don’t always help us the way we want. By taking stock of our lives, emotions, and thought processes we can uncover which things may be working well, and which ones could stand to be changed. This allows us to craft our own story rather than following one that feels stale or stagnant.

My focus in counseling is to help people find what barriers they have preventing them from living the life they hope for. Everyone has their own unique situations and concerns they are facing, and once we identify these, we can work together to find better ways for you to cope and move forward from the sources of pain and stress. Whether it is addiction, harmful eating habits, mental health concerns, or issues related to sexuality and gender identity, my goal is to create a safe space where you can address any life issues or concerns without judgement and for us to work together on your journey towards healing.
Alyssa Collina, ATR-BC, LPATA
I believe treatment should be navigated delicately and without judgement. We are more than our current situation, which is why I work to understand what it took to get you where you are today, including your strengths. I encourage art therapy, as it does not require any artistic skill and can help tap into memories and emotions that you may have struggled to find or articulate. We’re all human, we all make mistakes, and we all have trauma. Sometimes these things affect us in ways we wish they didn’t, and I would love to help you improve in areas that need most attention.

My scope of work with clients includes navigating challenging emotions such as anxiousness and depression, building on social skills, and healing from traumatic events. I work with a variety of clients including school-aged children and adults. As Psychologist Ashley Warner states, “Beneath every behavior, there is a feeling. And beneath every feeling, there is a need. And when we meet that need rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom.” I believe it is through therapy we can work to understand what the deeper meaning is behind behaviors and find solutions to address the manifesting need.

It’s often hard to steer through the never-ending changes in life. Stress, grief, trauma, depression, and anxiety show up emotionally and physically and can interfere with your everyday life and may even cause you to avoid making decisions or prevent you from moving forward. Sometimes you just need a soft place to land. Talking to friends and family are helpful but having a safe space and a non-biased person to process thoughts and feelings with is invaluable to one’s health and well-being. Recognizing the need for help is the first step towards relief. Learning how stressors affect you will allow you to find ways to handle it.

I believe that all humans are capable and deserving of healing, and through our work together, I believe you can live out your goals to fruition.

You were not born inherently flawed, and you were not born to suffer, but maybe somehow, somewhere along the way, your brain received this information and it has shaped the way you live your life. Feelings of isolation, guilt, shame, anger, and sadness have begun to feel inescapable, making it difficult to ask for/ accept help from others. You may feel trapped in a cycle of harmful and problematic behaviors , thoughts, relationships- you know something isn’t working, but can’t seem to figure out why or where to begin to start feeling better. Give yourself credit – you’ve already taken a big step forward, which brought you here.
Ronnie Hager, CSW

If you’ve felt weighed down, stuck, empty, suffering, low energy, locked in a pattern, unsure of yourself, without meaning, or alone then the chances are you’re searching for a new way of being. We’ve all been feeling some form of these at some point, or many points in our lives. Odds are, it all makes sense as to why. If you’ve suffered from some form of trauma like many of us have, you’ll be relieved to know that there are ways to understand these unconscious patterns in your life that honor your journey and bring out your awareness of your truest strengths and brilliance where you’ll be empowered as you heal and grow.
